Volume #006 - Florida Building Commission to Consider Recommendations for Revisions to New Structural Inspections Requirements

The Florida Building Commission's "Existing Building Inspection Workgroup" is scheduled for its Committee Report (Agenda Item #13) at the upcoming Commission meeting this Tuesday, 2/7/23 at 8:30 am. Full meeting details can be found here, and public viewing and participation to the meeting is available here.

This special "Existing Building Inspection Workgroup" drafted a 109-page report and also recently met as a workgroup on Thursday, 2/2/23, in advance of their Committee Report scheduled Tuesday, 2/7/23.

The Commission is seeking potential reform or clarity to how the law or State defines coastal properties (3 miles from the coast) vs. inland properties on a different timeline for required milestone inspections (25 vs. 30 years respectively). The workgroup is also seeking other points of clarity and revisions for the new law passed last summer 2022.

Organizations such as this newsletter, the Florida Legislative Alliance (F.L.A.), and various real estate news outlets such as The Real Deal will continue to monitor any important updates or potential changes to these new structural integrity inspections and reserve study requirements for Florida condominiums.
